South West Building Skills Academy will be running a range of hands-on practical building courses in Stroud, all taught by working builders with real industry experience.
The aim is to provide practical skills and confidence whether you are interested in DIY or looking to start a career in construction.
All courses are run in small groups of up to 8 people to make sure everyone gets plenty of hands-on time and guidance.
DIY Building Course
3 Day - DIY Building Course – £350.00
Ideal for homeowners or anyone wanting to learn practical building skills.
This course covers a range of basics including bricklaying, plastering, general building techniques, tools and materials.
General Building Course
10 Day - General Building Course – £1,670.00

These courses are designed for people who wish to learn proper trade skills and gain confidence with real techniques used on site.
Junior Builders Week
5 Day - Junior Builders Course
(Age 13 - 16) – £600.00
This course is designed for young people who prefer doing over sitting, have an interest in building, creating, and making things, may feel lost in traditional education and just need a bit of direction, confidence, and belief.
This week is about giving them a chance to discover what they can do.
The week of real, practical building skills, includes:
• Basic carpentry
• Bricklaying
• Plastering
• Tool handling & safety
• Building a small project to take home
